Air pollution in Ipswich

·         Ipswich Borough Council tell us that the illegal levels of air pollution kills at least 66 Ipswich people a year and many more suffer serious long-term illness.

·         The Suffolk Health and Wellbeing Board have prioritised air pollution and particularly in Ipswich.

·         The Environment Acts 2021 & 1995 oblige Ipswich Borough Council and Suffolk County Council to reduce air pollution to legal levels.

·         Ipswich CAN  for more information

The superb visitor engagement at the ‘People and Planet’ event at Ancient House over the last couple of weeks, has reinforced our view that provided with appropriate information, Ipswich people understand the need for action and wish to contribute constructively ideas that will deliver a healthier, sustainable, and prosperous Ipswich.

On behalf of Ipswich CAN I invite you to show you truly care for the health and well-being of the Ipswich people and make an electoral promise to do you all you can to reduce air pollution significantly and permanently.

This requires you to:

·         work constructively with all appropriate bodies and political parties.

·         tell the people of Ipswich the extent of our air pollution and its health impact in order for everyone to understand how serious this is and why urgent action needs to be taken. And then,

·         constructively engage with Ipswich people to develop an action and funding plan.

We will print your response to help inform voters in the upcoming local election and would appreciate a response within a week.
